A Sanctuary for Learning & Wonder
At Wildflower, we strive to provide an education that is deeply rooted in the rhythms of nature, drawing inspiration from the teachings of Rudolf Steiner and Waldorf principles. Our vision is to foster a sense of curiosity, wonder, and joy in every child who joins us.
We warmly welcome you to Wildflower Education, a place where children are encouraged to explore, grow, and discover the world around them through the beauty of nature, creativity, and holistic learning. We offer a nurturing environment that honours each child’s unique potential, fosters a deep connection to the earth, and inspires them to become confident, compassionate individuals ready to embrace the future.
At Wildflower Education Initiative, we believe that education should be a joyful and enriching journey for every child. We are excited to embark on this adventure with you and your family.
Our space is a warm, nurturing environment that encourages children ages 6 – 13 years old to explore and discover their best selves through nature and art, free from pressure or stress.
Our approach centres around a deep connection to nature. We nurture not only academic growth but also your child’s sense of purpose and a profound respect for the natural world and humanity. Our approach is built on the understanding that children thrive in environments that engage their minds, hearts, and hands. By emphasizing creativity, self-expression, and the development of practical skills, we allow each child’s unique abilities to shine. Through project-based learning, creative projects, hands-on activities, and collaborative learning, students are given the freedom to explore their potential in meaningful, lasting ways. At Wildflower, children learn at their own pace in a relaxed environment, with gentle guidance that nurtures their unique qualities and talents.
"Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself." - John Dewey
Anita Oxlee, an experienced and passionate Waldorf primary school teacher, brings nearly two decades of dedicated service in education. Holding a Higher Diploma in Education as well as Waldorf Teacher Training certification, Anita spent 20 years as a class teacher at Michael Mount Waldorf School in Johannesburg. During her tenure, she played a vital role in nurturing the holistic development of children through a unique blend of academic, artistic, and therapeutic methods. She then moved to the Cape and taught for 4 years at a nature education initiative 'Call of the Wild', where she taught children in the forests and fynbos of Noordhoek.
Anita specialized in both art and drama, completing 'Bridging Polarity Through Art', and trained in 'The Extra Lesson' by Audrey McAllan to support children with learning difficulties. Her empathetic approach recognizes each child’s unique potential and unlocks it in a compassionate nurturing environment.
"And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye". - The little Prince by Antoine de Saint. Anita’s vision for Wildflower stems from her connection to nature, art, and child development. Certified in Waldorf pedagogy and therapeutic education, she believes every child is a wildflower waiting to bloom in their own perfect time.
